**Summary:** Don’t like the pistol grip on your fire nozzle? No need to grab a saw. Most TFT nozzles allow you to remove the pistol grip cleanly and easily with just an Allen wrench. Simply back out the bolt and replace it with a set screw. You’re done in under a minute—no damage, no drama.

## Why Sawing It Off Isn’t the Move

If you’ve ever considered sawing off your fire nozzle’s pistol grip because it’s getting in your way, you’re not alone—and you’re not without options. One firefighter in this reel jokes about taking a hacksaw to his gear, only to be stopped by a teammate who offers a smarter, cleaner fix.

Sure, you *could* take a saw to the pistol grip. But it’s messy, permanent, potentially dangerous and probably not something your chief—or your tool budget—will appreciate. Plus, there’s an easier, reversible method that doesn’t void warranties or wreck your nozzle.

## The Two-Step Fix: Allen Wrench and Set Screw

Here’s how to remove the pistol grip the right way:

1. Grab an Allen wrench.
2. Back out the bolt holding the grip to the nozzle.
3. Replace it with a set screw in the same spot.

That’s it. You keep the nozzle functional, the threads protected, and the setup slick. No need to break out the power tools or write an incident report.

*Bonus Tip:* If anyone asks, blame it on B Shift. Kidding. Sort of.

## Why This Works with TFT Nozzles

This method applies to most TFT nozzles designed with a removable pistol grip. They’re built to let you configure them how you like—grip or no grip. And if your rig or crew prefers a leaner profile, this tweak keeps everything mission-ready.

So next time someone jokes about chopping the grip off, hand them an Allen wrench instead.
